“I’m so sick of running as fast as I can,

Wondering if I’d get there quicker, If I was a man.”

My name is Katie Oddo and I started this blog to be a resource for anyone interested in literature, educational articles and/or non-profit organizations that support women. As a teen, I admire the "feminists" of today because their independent success allows them to support other women and because their focus is on equality for everyone, not one gender over another.

Today's feminists quietly lead and spread the word about gender discrepancies in society by dropping a song like "The Man" on their album with little fanfare. Taylor Swift represents what a successful business woman at the top of her game looks like. She is the extreme example of what can happen if women are given an opportunity and have support systems in place. Female business and political leaders today are fierce and confident and other women benefit from seeing their success as a path to what their lives could be.

I'd like to see more women advance to C-suite jobs, but helping women starting out on the first rung of the ladder gain access to stable employment, healthcare, childcare and basic needs is critical for the success of all women. Meeting women where they are, and providing support for whatever their needs are, is paramount to the success of our society. Healthy women in stable jobs earning equal pay will raise the next generation of productive citizens.

I hope this blog inspires women and men alike to see the inequality that exists between the sexes and how we can start to make that discrepancy disappear on our way toward true social justice. Educating one's self about existing gender biases is critical to crafting policies that can support women at every stage of their development and advancement. Check out the non-profit organizations below to find a way you can join today's movement. Enjoy these book recommendations and articles that will bring you current on gender-based matters of the day.
